Quickbooks not able to send data usage

Hello and welcome to the Community, @davtwp.

I've got just the steps you'll need to resolve that error in no time. I'll detail the instructions below:

Solving Usage Data Sending Errors

Step 1: Check the date and time of the computer you're using QuickBooks on. For help with this, check out our awesome guide on resolving the Usage Data sending error.

Step 2: Check to see if an Accountant's Copy is in existence. If there is, you can wait until after the Accountant's Copy is returned or manually remove the restrictions.  Manually removing the restrictions will cause you to lose any changes the Accountant may have worked on in the file to this point, so please check with them before performing this step.

Step 3: Once the restrictions have been removed or the Accountant's Copy has been returned to QuickBooks, attempt to send the Usage Data again.

Step 4: If the error still occurs, before closing QuickBooks Desktop, obtain the qbwin.log to review for errors.

Step 5: Check for any transactions that are online to send and delete them:

  1. Select Edit from top menu bar and click Find (or press CTRL+F on your keyboard).
  2. Navigate to the Advanced tab. In the Filter box, select the following options: Detail Level Summary onlyOnline Status Online to send, and Posting Status > Either.
  3. Click the Find button in the top right corner.
  4. Review the results: If you find any non-payroll transactions, complete their processing. Any paychecks will need to be deleted.  Be sure to print or write the details so you can re-create them. Once they're deleted, attempt to send the Usage Data again. If successful, recreate the paychecks.

Step 6: If the problem continues, follow the troubleshooting steps in Payroll service server error: please try again later or Payroll Connection Error.

All of these instructions are also available from the guide linked in Step 1 for your convenience. Please keep me posted on your progress with this, I'm determined to ensure this issue gets resolved. Thanks for reaching out, I look forward to hearing from you again.
