Join nowHi @gregisabel1,
You can exclude your unemployment payment so it won't add to the tax calculation. Let me walk you through how.
This process will prevent the system from being taxed twice and for record-keeping purposes. I'm attaching our page about the federal relief for gig workers and freelances. Here's the link:
That'll do it. Please know that you're always welcome to swing by anytime if you have questions. I'd be around to help. Thanks for rolling in the Community, and have a lovely day.
I am a self employed Gig worker. What catagory/account should I record my CARES Unemployment benefits? Other income?
Hi there, @skigirlvt.
QuickBooks Self Employed (QBSE) consists of several categories that you can select to record your CARES Unemployment benefits. To do so, I suggest reaching an accountant to guide you in selecting the correct category for the transaction.
For more information about the different categories under QBSE, please refer to this article link: Categories in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
Also, to provide you detailed process in scheduling C expense categories in QBSE, please refer to this link: Schedule C Categories breakdown. This article will show you how to locate expense categories in QBSE.
Let me know how it goes and leave a reply below. I'll appreciate the opportunity to help if you have further questions. Stay safe and take care always!
