Can I mark a payroll check as ACH or direct deposit when I don't use Quickbooks to initiate the ACH? We do it through our local bank.

When I run payroll through QB online, it would allow me to post a check number but won't allow me to use ACH or DD or some other indication that the payroll is being direct deposited into the employee's account.

Thanks for checking in with us, klw625.

The option to mark a payroll check as ACH or Direct Deposit from your local bank in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is unavailable. We can only do this in your account if your process direct deposit and pay your employees with electronic deposits in QBO.

As a workaround, just enter a check number or edit the paychecks and put some details on the Memo filed. To learn more about this one, see Edit a payroll paycheck article for more details.

Feel free to visit our Set up and edit payroll page for more insights about managing your payroll on your account.

I'll be right here to continue helping if you need a hand with running payroll reports or any QBO related. Assistance is just a post away. Have a great day ahead.
