Covid 19 and FMLA how to set up in quickbooks

Hi there, so, I have a client who has 480 employees and does payroll in quick books desktop 2018 enterprise.

Here are my issues.

I have union employees that already get sick leave, we do not want to co-mingle the 2 sick leaves in case they don't get the virus or are affected don't want them thinking they get 136 hours of sick leave for 2020.  Plus the additional 80 is a use or loose at the end of the year.  We are still trying to get clarification if they have 56 hours of sick do they get 80 additional or just 24.  We are waiting on a call from the D O L to get that determination.  With that said, how do we handle this in Quick books. Quick books really does not have a spot to track more then 1 sick leave, it allows you to reset vacation at the beginning of the year but not sick, but who wants to go in and reset 480 employees.  Since the majority of their employees are in CA around 300, we are just trying to be ready and have a plan in place, so paying employees properly under the C OVID 19 and the FM LA portion of sick is easy. It would also be nice to be able to set everything up in Quick books for the limitations and caps they have set, then we could just pull a report to file the form or potentially attach the report to the form that will become available next week for C OVID assistance through the IRS. They are on Quick books Enterprise 2018, not upgrading as we are migrating away from Quick books in the near future.

Covid 19 and FMLA how to set up in quickbooks

Good afternoon, Katvatax.

I'd love to help you figure out how to set up your Sick leave hours in response to COVID-19. There have been some recent changes and updates that I would like to share. Specifically, an article on our Community page that focuses on the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. This article breaks down many things that will pertain precisely what your'e asking about.

For Example:

- When a full-time employee is impacted or sick from COVID-19 and quarantined, they can receive up to 80 hours of paid sick leave at 100% of pay for over a two-week period.

Check it out, it will answer any questions you have for your clients business.

Also, you should read, QuickBooks business resources and tax info for COVID-19. It's a helpful tool to keep you up-to-date on programs and resources we're offering during this time.

If you need further help with anything, you can reach out here, rain or shine! Have a great day.

In reading the law it appears there is an adjustment for Social Security tax calculated on the Sick Leave wages.  We use Intuit Online Payroll and there is no where now for me to adjust the Social Security tax calculation on "wages".  Do you know if the software will be updated?  Support isn't able to give me any answers.  Always  hear will be escalated to back office.

Hello, cindy40362.

At this time, we are working on releasing an update that will allow you to track Social Security tax properly. That update is for all products, including Intuit Online Payroll. Above, I have provided links to the articles with our most up-to-date information about these releases. We will continue to update these articles as more information is available and we have the updates ready for release.
Your patience during this time is greatly appreciated. If you need assistance with anything else, I'm here to help.

I just checked the IOP software and the employer SS is still calculating in the Sick/FMLA wages.  This week is the first payroll for Sick Leave.  Do you know when this is going to be corrected?  When I run the payroll the software doesn't give me the access to change the calculation manually.  Thanks so much!  I know you are swamped with all the changes taking place.

Thanks for getting back to us, cindy40362.

As of now, I'm unable to tell as to when the payroll will be corrected. If you're still unable to manually change the calculation, it would be best to reach out to our Phone Support. An agent will take a look at your account and guide you with the calculation.
