Hello, @froling.
The steps provided by my colleague should get this error fixed in no time. However, the update won't be able to go through on a hosting network.
I'd recommend reaching out to Right Networks so they can update it on their system. This way, you'll be able to do your payroll works smoothly.
You can refer to this article for more information: What is Right Networks hosting?

Absolute garbage Software.
Hi there, Hshood.
Thanks for continuing to be a member of the QuickBooks Community. By reaching out to them, they'll be able to not only view your program but also accurately resolve the error and provide the steps to assist in case you may run into a similar situation such as this. To contact them follow the steps below:

Hi...thanks for the reply.
Yes...this is exactly what I am talking about. Ever time we have an update, doesn't matter what it is, this software errors out. It's Exhausting.
Error 15107. Cannot initialize update. Happens on the Two Workstations with QB.
Server\client install.
Both machines get the same error.
Firewall is OFF. Nothing being blocked. ALL PORTS OPEN. Windows Firewall OFF.
All other Windows junk...OFF (Windows7) No it is NOT a Windows 7 Problem. So don't sell me on Windows 10. Although we will go there before years end.
Hours wasted EVERYTIME.
I am on the Internet, but your (Tool Box) software does not think I am. Thats just BROKEN, PERIOD.
Last few years..everytime, EVERYTIME, we update our Version, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020. ALL...I mean ALL have failed to convert from Default to Contractor Edition. MORE WASTED HOURS. Not Minutes...HOURS.
Did I say HOURS.
Each and EVERYTIME we must phone Support, and Always Get that you have HIGH CALL VOLUMES.
No WONDER.
Then finally talk to someone but they don't listen They insist on doing the very same things we are told to try in these communities. Even when I tell hime (FIRMLY) and not to waste my time, because I have already done this or that, they insist on wasting more time.
Very Disappointing.
Signed.
Exhausted By QB
Hmmmm client just got off the phone with some moron in the Philipines even tho she requested a Canadian Call Center.
This support person said because we are running Win7 we cannot get Tax Tables.
What on Gods earth has Win7 got to do with Tax Tables for QB2020 that is running happily on this OS??
As per YOUR Recommendations:
At Intuit, the security of our customer's data is a top priority. To help customers secure their personal information, like their social security number and bank account information, we recommend that Windows 7 users upgrade to Windows 10 before installing their product.
This seems entirely OPTIONAL....NOT ENFORCED. I get we need Win10 before 2021, but severing support mid year is enough for a Class Action Law Suite.
We were informed last December we had a YEAR. Just to remind you a YEAR = 365 Days.
I pity anyone stuck with QB Desktop. God help you. You life just got a lot more miserable, trust me.
This isn't the kind of service we want you to experience, @hshood.
Currently, QuickBooks Desktop 2020 will only support Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 (Update 1). Though, you can try these steps below to see if the update works.
First, run the reboot.bat file. Here's how:
Then, download the update by renaming the QuickBooks old folder.
Lastly, reboot your computer. A message will pop up to Install the Update, click on it. Then, check your tax table version again.
If none of the above-recommended steps works, I suggest posting this to our Canadian forum. They have special tools and resources to assist you further. Please visit them at this link: Canada's QuickBooks Community.
I'll also share with you these articles for more information about the QuickBooks system requirements.
Please know that we aim to get your program back up and running. You can always swing by anytime if you need help with anything else. Thanks for coming by and I wish you have a good one.
