It's nice to hear from you again, @endo.

I appreciate the details that you shared. Restoring the .QBB file that you're working on will keep all the entries that you made secured. It won't be changed nor lost.

To do these:

  1. Select the File menu at the top.
  2. Click on  Open or Restore Company.
  3. Restore the file based on its type: Windows backup file (.qbb)
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

To give you more details about this procedure, refer to this link: Restore your file

You can also create an accounts copy of the company file if you wish to send this file to your accountant. I've added here an article that you can check out on how to perform this process: Create an Accountant's Copy of your company file in QuickBooks Desktop

Let me know if you have any other questions on this or with QuickBooks. It'd be my pleasure to help you out. Have a fantastic day!

Thanks for your prompt response, @endo.

When working on a downloaded file in QuickBooks Desktop, it's recommended to restore the file to save all the changes/transactions that you enter.  You can save it in the Desktop or in the Local Backup folder.

I'm adding here some resources that provide information on how restoring file works in QBDT:

IF you need more help with this or any concerns with QuickBooks,  please let me know. I'll be around to assist you. Have a good one!

Hello there, @endo.

My colleague provided a solution that can help keep all the entries made on the file. Since you need assistance performing the steps, I recommend giving our Customer Care Team a call.

They have tools capable of pulling up your account details in a secure environment, which we’re unable to do so here in the Community for security reasons. Our phone agents can perform a screen-sharing session with you to ensure the success of the process.

Here’s how to get in touch with support:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the top and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click the blue Contact Us link at the bottom of the pop-up window.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern and hit Continue.
  4. Select the support option that works for you.

I’m adding this article as your guide: Contact the QuickBooks desktop customer support team.

Let me know how the call goes or if you need anything else by leaving a comment below.  It’s my pleasure to help. Have a good one!

@endo ,

See on the top of your QuickBooks window. Is there anything like "[your date file name] (Accountant's Changes Pending)" ? If you don't see anything, you didn't create any accpuntant data file whatsoever. If you restore that QBB, you will create another data file (QBW).

Hello, endo!

Restoring the QBB file is just like creating a separate company file in QuickBooks. You're unable to use that to import your accountant's changes. You'll want to request them to send you the Accountant's Changes (.QBY) file instead. If they don't know how to create it, you can share this article with them: Export accountant's changes.

Once you have a copy of the QBY file, you can import the changes like how you usually do it.

Let us know if there's anything we can help you with your accountant's changes.
