You can add notes for your Employee in QuickBooks Online. I'll be happy to guide you with the steps.

 

  1. Go to Workers from the left menu, then select Employees.
  2. Choose your employee.
  3. Click the pencil icon beside Profile.
  4. Enter the information in the Notes field.
  5. Hit Save.

 Also, you can make other options in the Status dropdown. Just follow these steps: 

 

  1. Go to Workers then select Employees.
  2. Choose your employee from the pencil icon beside Employment.
  3. Click the Status drop-down then make your changes.
  4. Hit Save.

Thank you for reminding me to use the notes section.. I am however most interested in having other options in the status drop down, aside from the ones provided. The steps to do so seem great, but they do not work. There is no "pencil" aside from the one next to the "employment" section after an employee has already been chosen. Once I am in there, the only option is to choose from status options that have been pre-populated. If I am misunderstanding, maybe you can provide me with a visual? I am working in QBO, btw.. maybe that makes a difference? Thank you!

There's no other option aside from the default choices, AMoon. 

 

Adding another option sounds like a great idea though. I'll pass this along to our product engineers, so they can consider it in future updates.

 

Requests and suggestions have been helpful to us. It's one way of making us aware about the things that we need to enhance or add to QuckBooks.

Does an employee that only has access through workforce see the notes we put in the employee profile?

Thanks for jumping in the thread, @Adagio. To allay your concerns regarding who can access and view the notes you add to the employee profile, I'll offer some details.

In QuickBooks, the notes area is only for reference. The QuickBooks Workforce, on the other hand, enables your employees to access their pay stubs and W-2s online and to add some personal information. The notes you've put to their QuickBooks profile won't be visible to them.
