Hi there, ATU1177.

If you've already paid your FUTA taxes, you can record prior tax payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO). This will help remove the tax notification in your account.

  1. Go to Taxes and select Payroll Tax.
  2. Click on the Enter Prior Tax History link.
  3. Choose Add Payment.
  4. Select tax type and liability period (the period that the taxes were accrued) then enter:

    • Payment Date
    • Check Number (optional)
    • Notes (optional)
    • Tax Item Amounts

  5. Click on OK once you're done.

For further guidance, check this link to learn more about recording prior tax payments in QBO.

If you see an over payment after entering prior tax payments, refer to this article to correct this: Resolve a tax overpayment.

We'll be around if you need anything else. Have a good one.

HI there, @Salon sweet.

An incomplete employee's information can be the cause why enter prior tax history link isn’t showing. To fix this, make sure that your payroll setup includes all your employee's information, especially the tax details.

Let's go to the payroll settings and check if all you have set up the state and federal taxes. Simply click the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings.

Also, you can go here:

1. Go to the Payroll tab and select Employees

2. Click on the employee's name and click Edit employee

3. From there, verify if the PayProfile, and Employment data have been entered.

To learn more about the payroll setup in QuickBooks Online, you check out the steps and visual references found in these links:

You can check out this article which can guide creating paychecks after verifying the payroll setup in QBO: Create Paychecks in QuickBooks Online.
