Hi financial-,

You'll want to set up the exemptions under the pastor's profile. I recommend consulting your accountant first to verify if the employee is qualified to be tax exempt.

Here's how:

  1. Click Workers on the left menu, then select Employees.
  2. Choose the employee's name.
  3. Under Employee Details, click on the pencil icon beside Pay.
  4. Click on the pencil icon under the question What are (employee's name) withholdings?
  5. Go to the Tax Exemptions section, then click on the drop down arrow.
  6. Select Social Security and Medicare and other withholding taxes.

For future reference, please check this article in case you've already process payroll for this employee: Adjust Employee Exemption Taxes.

Please touch base with us if you need further assistance. We're always here to help.

I do not get a drop down menu so that I can un-check SS and Medicare deductions

I do not get a drop down menu for tax exemptions.  Therefore I cannot opt him out of SS and Medicare.
