JenoP: You are providing incorrect information to QBSE customers.

You wrote...

”The Tax Checklist will be available in QBSE starting January 14.... Please take note that the normal quarterly estimated tax deadline has been extended.”

It is a falsehood to suggest the January 15, 2021 deadline for Q4 2020 estimated tax payments has been “extended.” It has not. Perhaps your advice was an inadvertent error.

Therefore, if a QBSE user is relying on the export to TurboTax to figure out their final 2020 business tax liability (so they can know what to pay on or before January 15), I recommend skipping the export for now and manually entering the QBSE data (from reports, etc.) to calculate the estimated payment within $1,000 of the actual tax liability.

Remember, taxpayers can be penalized if their collective (all four combined) estimated tax payments fall below the $1,000 difference threshold.

After January 14, taxpayers can do the export to TurboTax and double check if anything was missed on the TT manual entry. On that day, if taxpayers discover they are still beyond the $1,000 threshold, they will still have 24 hours (until January 15) to make a supplementary payment to avoid penalty.

Pretty tight. Thanks, Intuit.  :-(

I do need to familiarize myself with the year end steps.  I have done this many times. What I need to know, is when will I be able to send my details to TurboTax, it is a very complicated tax year for me. Can you provide the date on when this most critical feature of your platforms will be available? Without this feature, it is not very useful.

Welcome to the Community, jbinter. I'd be more than happy to share some information about sending your details to TurboTax Self-Employed.

The tax checklist will be available in mid-January. Intuit will send you a notification once it's accessible. When it comes time to file, you'll be able to export your data to TurboTax by using the Tax checklist link on your Home screen. Make sure you're signed into TurboTax in the same web browser while selecting this option.

If your sign-in credentials are different for both accounts, you'll want to follow an appropriate process outlined in our Send QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) tax info to TurboTax article. This will ensure that your information's sent to the correct account.

Many useful resources about working with taxes in QBSE can also be found in our help article archives.

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Enjoy the rest of your day!

I have QBSE and turbotax SE, the data will not transfer from quickbooks to turbotax after selecting "send to turbotax" button in quickbooks. Anyone else have this issue?

Hi there, Tjsmith.

Can you tell us if you're getting an error message if you're getting an error message when exporting your data to TurboTax? For now, I can't see that we have a open alert about errors when exporting tax details from QBSE to TurboTax.

Please take note that the option to sync your data between QBSE and Turbotax is only available if you have a bundle subscription for both of them. This means that you need to have the same login details. if not, follow the steps in this article to resolve the issue: Send QuickBooks Self-Employed Tax Data To TurboTax Self-Employed Using Different Sign-in Info.

I'd also like to share this article for additional reference: Why Some Deductions Don't Automatically Export To TurboTax Self-Employed.

I do not get any errors. After clicking send to turbotax on Quickbooks, I am redirected to the turbotax site but no data is transferred.

I just tried it again after logging off for a couple hours and it worked this time. Not sure what the problem was. Thanks for the quick response.

Greetings, @tjsmith1458.

When you export your information to TurboTax, only your Schedule C information are exported.  You'd have to complete the questionnaire in TurboTax to manually record your annual tax deductions:

  • Vehicle Expenses
  • Home Office Expenses
  • Healthcare Expenses
  • Business Assets
  • Tax Payments

You can read through this article for more detailed insights: Why some deductions don't automatically export to TurboTax Self-Employed.

On the other hand, you can access your TurboTax account and look for your QuickBooks Self-Employed imported data. Just type “jump to Schedule C” in the search bar, go to the Schedule C section. Image result for How do I export tax information from QuickBooks self-employed to TurboTax Business images

If you can't locate your Schedule C data, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care team. They have the specific tools required to get this working for you. However, if you have questions about TurboTax and its processes, you can reach them through this link: https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/contact/.

Lastly, I've added these resources to help you complete the filing of your 1040 taxes:

I appreciate you performing some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue, @efail.

Please know that this isn't the kind of service we want you to experience with us. No worries, I'm here to help export your QuickBooks Online (QBO) data to TurboTax.

Currently, the ability to directly import your data into TurboTax Desktop is not yet available. You’ll need to convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop using a trial subscription.

After that, you'll need to export the data to QBDT. You can then begin exporting your QBDT tax data to TurboTax.

For a step-by-step import process, you can check out this article. It's possible that this process will take time. That said, you’ll want to consider manually entering your tax information into TurboTax.

For reference, you can click this link to learn about the year-end information guide for QuickBooks Online. It will help you avoid unnecessary adjustments before you file your taxes.

Don't hesitate to visit us and post questions anytime you need help with the exporting process to TurboTax. The QuickBooks Team is always here to answer them for you.
