How do we combine 2 different Company ID's (QBO with QBO Payroll)?

When you import your desktop data to QBO, the payroll data doesn’t automatically come over. You’ll have to manually enter them using the prior payroll method.

The option to combine two Company ID’s is unavailable at this time. This is because one subscription is per company file in QBO.

To keep your records in order, select which subscription you want to add the payroll information. Then, cancel the other one you’re not going to use.

Here’s how to unsubscribe:

1. Go to Account and Settings under Your Company.
2. Tap the Billing & Subscription menu to see the QuickBooks section.
3. From there, choose Cancel subscription or Cancel online and then hit Continue to proceed.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cancellation process.

When you’re ready, open the QBO file you want to enter the payroll entries. Then, follow the instructions to input the information in the Set up a prior payroll guide.

We already had QB Payroll Online (for last 3 years) so how to I import the QB Desktop data into that account? Or are you saying I can't?

If I can't import QB Desktop into my existing QB Payroll, how do I move my my historical Payroll data to the new QBO account so my books are accurate? (I currently run payroll in QB Payroll, then do journal entries in Desktop)

You can migrate from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) if the QBO account has no data yet. 

If you’d still like to enter your QBDT data to QBO, you can consider entering your payroll information through journal entries. Check this article for more information: Manually enter payroll paychecks in QuickBooks Online.
