Join nowI have enhanced Payroll through Quickbooks Desktop 2019. I tried filing my Q1 2020 payroll taxes, using Form 941 and got this error, I suppose because the Payroll program was updated to use the new form for covid specific items:
"You cannot file a return for 1st quarter 2020. Form 941 is for the current tax year, quarters 2, 3 and 4. Quickbooks only stores one version of the federal 941 tax form"
But we were given extra time to file Q1 taxes so how do I do that (we are efilers.) Anyone have a solution to this?
IRS has only released a DRAFT NOT FOR FILING of the 941 form at this time. As soon as the final form is released QB will automatically download the form for you to file. I have not received any notice regarding when the final form is expected.
If this solves your problem please mark it solved.
I am having the same trouble. I can not find the Q1 941 2020 form available anywhere. I can find prior years but nothing else for this year other than the Q2-4 version that is still a draft. If anyone can find it I would appreciate a link too!!

I'm having the same problem even after downloading the update. How do we file 2020 Q1 941?
I cannot find 2020 Q1 941 either, any new information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Hello there, @SJudge1.
Currently, the IRS updated the final version of Form 941, which has also affected the form for the first quarter.
To file the Q1 Form 941, you can select the Quarterly Form 941/Sch. B-Employer's Quarterly Federal in QuickBooks.
Here's how:

still receiving the same error, even after updating. I see on the irs website that the first quarter is not selectable on the pdf form there, so maybe the irs hasn't released an updated form yet
Hi there, @remedyskincarecenter.
As of this moment, the IRS releases a 941 draft form as IRS has not released the finalized form yet.
You can follow my colleague's steps above on how to file the Q1 Form 941 once the IRS finalized it.

After wasting 2 days, I found this link thru Microsoft edge. I even emailed the IRS, they couldn't help.
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-access/f941_accessible.pdf
I was able to fill out on the computer print and mail, to file, not ideal but you could put that task behind you.
Zero help from any software or irs person.
Best of luck.
Thank you so much for your help. It ended my frustration and nightmare with attempting to file a delinquent first quarter 2020 form 941.
