Hi there, @foundationsavers

Let's get you back up and running so that you can make an employee inactive. The Payroll Tax Setup page needs to be completed in order to make changes in the employee profile. You'd have to complete his/her payroll details so you have the option to inactivate.

If you get the same results after checking the employee's profile, there are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, thus causing some errors and/or unusual responses.

To isolate, start with using a private browser, here's how:

  • For Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari: Command + Shift + N

If this works, this means that you just need to clear your browser's cache. Sometimes, it keeps either too many or outdated Internet files that may cause websites.

You can also check my colleague's post for more details and screenshots in changing an employee's status: How do I make an employee inactive?.

Also, you can check our year-end guide and checklist for additional resources in completing payroll tasks in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if there's anything else that I can assist you with. I'll be here to help.
