I switched mid-quarter and mid-month to quickbooks. My other service is paying taxes prior to switch, can I modify amount of tax QBO payroll shows to pay?

Used to use Paychex Flex with Taxpay deducted every weekly payroll for taxes, need to reduce the amount QB Payroll wants to pay for entire month of April and entire quarter (Fed) when we actually just started QB Payroll with last payroll of the month of April. Only need QB Payroll system to pay one payroll run of taxes.

Hi @accounting-topdo,

In QuickBooks Online Payroll, you can record prior tax payments. I'm here to share the steps with you.

Here's how:

  1. Highlight the Taxes tab.
  2. Select Payroll Tax.
  3. Click Enter prior tax history.
  4. Tap Add payment.
  5. Choose the tax type and liability period.
  6. Press OK.

More details on this process are in this article: Recording prior tax payments. You'll find steps for QuickBooks Online Payroll Enhanced, Intuit Online Payroll, and for QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium, as well as Elite.

In case you need to have access to your payroll tax forms and payments to download or print them, take a look at this article: Access payroll tax forms and tax payments

Drop a comment below if you have other questions about prior payroll tax payments in QBO. I'll be around to help you out.
