Hi there, gillelen.

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community.

If you had QuickBooks online payroll for years and you've canceled it, you'll have to access your payroll data 6 months after you remove your subscription, unless you asked us to complete your annual filings. That said, your data will automatically be deleted after the date range I've mentioned.

However, you can contact our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to check your account and verify other options to recover your payroll data and tax forms.

Here's how to contact them:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Account.
  2. At the top right, click the Help icon.
  3. Choose the Assistant section.
  4. Type your concern in the Type something field.
  5. Click Talk to a human.
  6. Click I still need a human.
  7. Click the Get help from a human.
  8. You'll be routed into the How can we help? page. Then, select callback or how you want to contact them and fill in the information.

You can browse this article to learn more about the different types of support we offer at Intuit and its availability: Support hours and types.

If your payroll subscription is still active and you're unable to run payroll due to lost data, it could be the cache full of history and temp files caused unexpected behaviors. With this, I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue, and private browsing doesn't store local files or cache.

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

If it works in incognito, I recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. You can check this article to see the steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as alternatives.
