Is Intuit set up to comply with new tax laws? I am asking in particular for the new Colorado FAMLI Act which requires contributions from employees starting January 2023.

We use Intuit's payroll program and want to make sure that the proper taxes will be taken out of our employees' checks starting in January.

Thanks for checking in with us, team-hornerhomes.

The new Colorado FAMLI Act program ensures all Colorado workers have access to paid leave to take care of themselves or their families during life circumstances that pull them away from their jobs. Intuit always complies with new tax laws. As of now, we don't have a specific timeline as to when this will be available in the program. Rest assured that the system will automatically catch up on the taxes once this policy takes effect.

I have done the update in payroll for the new CO Family and Medical Leave program.  One the update was done it added 'liability adjust' to all of my employees.  Why did it do this as it doesn't seem right.

Please let us know in detail if this is correct or if it needs to be deleted.

Hello there, @marie20. I want to ensure this will be taken care of.

To further determine why QuickBooks created a liability adjustment after updating your payroll, I highly recommend reaching out to our Customer Care team. They use specific tools to look into your account in a secure environment and verify the details. You can also request a screen-sharing session so they can review and check your set up. Here's how:

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop account, go to the Help tab and select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. From there, enter a brief description of your issue and select Continue.
  4. Log in to your Intuit account and select Continue and then Continue with my account (if you don't have one yet, select Create a new account).
  5. You'll receive a single-use code. Input it and select Continue. If you have more than one account, choose the one you want to use. Then, click Continue.
  6. Select either chat with us or Have us call you.
