Manatory Payroll info update doesn't work

When attempting to complete the mandatory payroll info update, I click “update now” and this is the result:

Error 80000

I have attempted to contact support and all I can get is a recording that emails me a link of suggested fix that doesn’t help me.

Manatory Payroll info update doesn't work

I can help you in resolving the error you have to successfully update your payroll account info in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @cardrken.

To fix this error, I suggest updating QBDT to the latest release. QuickBooks provides maintenance release and product updates to fix known issues, add features and enhancements, as well as update compliance information.

To manually update:

  1. Search for QuickBooks Desktop. Right-click the icon and select Run as administrator.
  2. From the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Click the Options tab and select Mark All and then choose Save.
  4. Go to the Update Now tab and select the Reset Update checkbox.
  5. Click Get Updates.

Once done, close and reopen QBDT. To install the updates, select Yes. You can now restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

For more information on how to check if you have the latest release and on how to schedule future automatic updates, refer to this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Manatory Payroll info update doesn't work

Thanks for following the steps shared on this thread, @Ambulance. We can download the QuickBooks Tool Hub to help fix common errors.

Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks, then download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub
  2. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). If you've installed Tool Hub before, find out which version you have, then select the Home tab. The version will be on the bottom.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Then, use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. Here's how:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub, then select Installation Issues.
  2. Click the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. Let the tool run. It can take up to 20 minutes.
  3. Restart your computer when it's done.

After that, update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

If the issue persists, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care team to help you check what's causing this to happen and help you resolve the issue.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be here to answer your next posts. Take care.
