My manually entered trips have been removed from my account. Does QB require that allow the system to track my phone location. (I've entered the trip data manually)

Welcome to the Community, @ruhland-mike-gma. I'm here to help ensure you're able to have your manually entered trips back.

It could be that you have logged in to the wrong account, that's why the trips you've manually entered went missing.

To resolve this, log out and then log back making sure to enter your QBSE credentials correctly.

Please note that QuickBooks is unable to retrieve deleted transactions. Hence, recreating them is the only option.

Here's an article you can read for more details: Use automatic mileage tracking for QuickBooks Self-Employed.

For future reference, read through this article to learn about how QuickBooks Self-Employed calculates mileage deductions

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any other questions. I'll keep an eye on your response. Have a great day.

I have confirmed my credentials are correct.

Since my post I've been able to use the reports tab / Mileage report to see my entries.

Toggling back and forth current year - past year allowed me to see me entries.

Viewing my entries is intermittent.  I will try logging in and out to discover the cause of this unexplained behavior.

I've been careful to recreate this failure (notice my characterization of this anomaly has escalated).

Under the reports tab / Mileage  with all time periods visible, my manually entered miles are not visible as a report.  The current work around is to download the report and view the entries in Excel.

I have been able to recreate this twice as confirmation now that I understand the process.

Thank you

Reading the suggestion to turn off battery saver on my phone and use the automated process is not an optimal solution.  My use case doesn't warrant the phone app.

Wrong account was ruled out.  My other transactions were visible when using reports, without logging out and back in.

Hello, @ruhland-mike-gma.

I appreciate the details you've shared. Since you're still not able to see the manually-uploaded mileage transactions I'd recommend performing the browser troubleshooting method. This is done to fix any data-related issues.

You can start by using a private browser when logging into your QuickBooks Online account to check if you need to clear the browser's cache. If you're not able to see the mileage transactions, you can go back to the regular browser and clear the cache. If it's still the same, you can use another supported browser as an alternative.

Here are the shortcut keys to access a private browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari 11 or newer: + Shift + N

If you're still having this issue even after performing the browser troubleshooting method, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Care Team. They have the tools to check further about this issue and verify your account.

I've included this article about managing QuickBooks Self-Employed: QuickBooks Self-Employed Overview. This contains commonly asked questions and answers that may help you with your future tasks.
