payroll historical data

This will depend on the option you select during the setup, @Winnie2.

When entering historical payroll data, the accounts will update once you affect payroll expense, payroll liability, and your bank.

If you want general ledger accounts won't be affected, you’ll want to use the option “Do not affect accounts." Selecting this option will cause the Year To Date adjustment to not show up in the bank register.

You can refer to this article for additional information and complete instructions about the process: Enter historical payroll data.

To understand how payroll ends up in general ledger, you can also review the accounting cycle through this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/r/payroll/where-does-payroll-go-in-my-ledger/.
