Payroll not running, it says something has been made inactive

Thanks for turning to the Community about the error you’re experiencing when running payroll. I’d be glad to clarify why this is happening.

This issue may occur if the subscription is cancelled or you’re not the Company Administrator. I have a few steps you can try to get your payroll working.

To check the subscription status:

1. Go to the Gear icon at the top menu bar.
2. Select Account and Settings.
3. Click on Billing & Subscription on the left panel.
4. Go to the QuickBooks section to see the subscription status.

Here’s how to check the access rights:

1. Go to the Gear icon at the top menu bar.
2. Select Manage Users.
3. In the Users section, check the User Type.

If the account is still active and you're currently the Company Administrator, let's try some new steps. A typical browser uses a cache of memory to work efficiently and load pages faster, but as data collects it can cause unexpected results.

You can start fixing this by logging into a private window. This process allows you to to conduct a clean search, free from the influence of previous browsing history and network.

Here's how:

• For Chrome press Ctrl+Shift+N.
• For Internet Explorer or Firefox, press Ctrl+Shift+P.
• For Safari, hold down Command+Shift+N.

If this works well, clear the temporary internet files. This can clear up all kinds of odd issues with QuickBooks Online and other websites too.
