Payroll will not run without me defining "MA COVID-19 Recovery Assessment Tax" rate has been defined.

Can someone tell me where I define it in QBO? I'm at a loss.

Hello there, Labrsq.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community about your payroll concern. I’ll help and route you in the right direction on how to fix the issue.

The option to update your MA COVID-19 Recovery Assessment Tax Rates is currently unavailable. Our payroll compliance team is working with MA DUA to get the latest SUI rates. This way, you can apply the new one in your company and run payroll smoothly.

Once the tax item is available, the rate is automatically updated. If you’re still unable to run payroll, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team for further assistance.

I’m adding an article that will guide you on how to: Update your State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) rate in QuickBooks or Intuit Payroll. It provides detailed information about the process for each payroll version.

To ensure you comply with your state’s payroll tax regulations, check this article: Massachusetts Payroll Tax Compliance. It provides detailed information about tax forms, withholdings, unemployment and other tax, e-file and pay information, etc.

Stay in touch if you have clarifications about updating your unemployment rate. I’ll be glad to lend a helping hand. Have a good one.
