Payroll

We currently use Intuit online payroll separately from our quickbooks online account.  Is there a way to merge the intuit into the quickbooks account?

Thank You

Welcome to the Community, @polly319. It's an honor for me to answer your first post.

To give you an idea, QuickBooks Online and Intuit Online Payroll are two different online platforms. IOP is purely for payroll, while QBO is accounting software.

Though merging them isn't an option, but you can export IOP data and import it into QBO. Here's how:

  1. Open a supported and up-to-date browser
  2. Set up your QBO accounts for payroll data and run the Account List report from the Reports menu.
  3. Set up class tracking and add it to your Payroll Settings in QBO, then set up the connection between IOP and QBO.

For more in-depth steps, refer to step Steps 2 to 5 outlined in this article: Setup export of IOP data to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

For future reference, visit this website: QuickBooks Basics. It contains articles that can help you learn about managing your income, expenses, banking, inventory, payroll, taxes, and QBO account effectively.

Let me know if you have additional questions about importing data, @polly319. I'll do the best I can to help you.

The information directs to blue tabs across the top of IOP, and to use the setup tab.  I don't have any of that in my version of IOP. No blue tabs and I cannot find a setup tab at all.  When I search for setup I get a message that says I need quickbooks online to access this page, we do have quickbooks online.  So I'm very confused.

Hello polly319,

I appreciate you for considering the recommendation shared by my colleague.

If you haven't tried logging in to your account using an incognito window, I recommend doing so. This can help to identify if this behavior is a browser-related issue. You can also press F5 on your keyboard or click the Reload icon on your browser to refresh the program.

Here are the shortcut keys you can follow:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

If the Setup tab appears, go back to their regular browser and clear its cache to prevent any unexpected behavior. You can also use other compatible browsers in QBO. If the same thing happens, let's contact our support team to your account in detail in a secure environment.

If you want to run some payroll reports in QBO, you can use the articles below as your guide:
