Join nowI've been trying for the last hour to get a hold of someone through the customer service and sales numbers in order to get a copy of Intuit's W-9, and as i just was hung up on while on hold for almost a half an hour, i'm really hoping to be able to get some information through here.
Would it be possible to get the W-9 e-mailed to us, or to get the contact information for the Finance Dept. that would typically handle this sort of request. I'm hoping this should just be the quick acquisition of a PDF.
Good day, CDPHP-NY.
I'd be glad to help you get a copy of Intuit's W-9. Let's get started.
Since printing a W-9 form in QuickBooks Online isn't currently offered, you can download the form through the IRS website and print them out.
You can get more information about this form in the following links below:
Forms and Associated Taxes for Independent Contractor.

Also, you can check this article to learn more in collecting contractor's W-9s: You can do WHAT in QuickBooks? Collect contractor W-9s.
Let me know how it goes by leaving a reply below. I'd be glad to provide you additional assistance.
That wouldnt give me intuit's W-9 though... that would give me the blank W-9 form from the IRS. I need Intuit's W-9, Intuit, the parent company of Quickbooks, with their TIN listed on it. Typically this would be supplied by someone on your finance team, like a member of Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable.
Thank you for the response, however this wouldn't get me your company's W-9. This would be how i would generate a W-9 or get a blank w-9 for printing, but i specifically need your company's W-9 for our records. We need one pre-filled with your company's information including your TIN.
I hope this clarifies what we're hoping to acquire.
Thanks for clarifying the details about your concern, CDPHP-NY.
The payments you send to us for our services will not require a 1099, nor a W-9 because Intuit is a corporation. In addition, the services we offer are not part of the exclusion list. Intuit is a corporation and is exempt from reporting 1099 Misc. Note that the payments made with a credit card or other payment cards are not subject to report on Form 1099. You can learn more about it through these IRS links:
If you still want to verify these details, you can contact our Customer Care Team within QBO. They can provide additional explanation about it.
We'll be right here if you have additional questions.
Yes, we know that you're a corporation and would not receive a 1099, however we're a non-profit health insurance company who gets audited by multiple government agencies each year. As part of IRS audits, we need to show that you're a Corporation and not subject to withholdings. If we do not obtain a w-9, then by federal law, any payments we make, not by Credit Card, would be subject to Federal Withholding, and would need to be deducted from payment provided to Intuit.
We typically make these requests of our vendors, and do not often find them as secretive about their W-9 as Intuit seems to be.
I appreciate you for adding more details about your concern, @CDPHP-NY.
As mentioned by my peer, we’re unable to provide a W-9 or 1099 since Intuit is a corporation.
Corporations have a high-level of administrative reporting, that is why the IRS exempts them from receiving 1099-MISC forms.
I suggest contacting the IRS for further assistance. They can provide recommendations on how to handle this type of situation. This is to ensure any payments made will not be subject to withholding.
For additional information on when to send a 1099-MISC, check out the Exceptions section on page 2 on this link: Instructions for Forms 1099-MISCand 1099-NEC.

The IRS recommendation is that we take withholding from vendors that do not provide a W-9. Is that what you're recommending that we do?
We've been able to acquire W-9s from Adobe, Google, Microsoft... None have provided pushback regarding their W-9. Corporations are still required to provide their W-9, that's why a W-9 lists C Corp/S Corp on the form. I'm not really sure the justification for not providing your corporate W-9.
The Exception to a 1099 is for Corporations, but if you do not provide your W-9, you're not proving you're a corporation. That's the point of a W-9, to inform your tax classification. Without documentation of your tax classification, the Payee has to assume full withhold, and expect you to work it out with the IRS.
Hello, @CDPHP-NY.
I understand the importance of being able to print the Intuit's W-9. At this, I recommend checking this page where you can see an Intuit W-9 that you can print out: Form W-9 Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification.
