"Update your payroll account info by July 31"->"update now" does not work at all.

Any one experience this issue?

Using Quickbook Pro Plus 2021, got message to ""Update your payroll account info by July 31, 2021".

Click the "update now" link, it opens a window for login but after put the info, it is hanging there and then disappeared.

Let me help you update your payroll account info and share experience about the hurdle you're getting, @XSResearch.

 

I've seen some users get unexpected results 2 weeks ago like getting error and some were able to update the payroll account info successfully.

 

When paying employees and contractors by direct deposit (DD), the federal and state regulations require us to verify your business and Principal Officer info by July 31, 2021. You’ll need to make sure to update your account info to avoid any possible DD issues (i.e., paying employees and contractors and electronically paying payroll taxes and filing tax forms).

 

Here's the following info you'll need:

  • Physical business address
  • Principal Officer’s physical home address
  • Principal Officer’s Social Security Number
  • Principal Officer’s date of birth
  • Business type
  • Industry type

 

If the Update now link is hanging and suddenly disappears, I'd recommend doing these things:

  1. Get the latest QuickBooks Desktop release.
  2. Sign in as the Primary Admin in your QuickBooks company file and sign in through your Intuit Account.

I got the email stating I need to update the information...but I don't see anything in Payroll Center?  When will this appear?  I'm using QB 2020, logged in as Intuit account & Admin and all updates are installed.

Welcome to the Community. If you want to update your Payroll information in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), here are the steps you can perform.

 

For Basic, Standard, and Enhanced versions:

  1. Go to Employees then, My Payroll Service.
  2. Click Account/Billing Information.
  3. Log in using your Intuit Account credentials. This will open the Payroll Account Management portal.
  4. Navigate to the Payroll Details section. Confirm the EIN showing is the right company for which you want to make changes on Payroll Admin.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. If you have signed up for direct deposit, enter your PIN and select Continue.
  7. Update the contact details such as name, phone number, and email.
  8. Click Update. Wait for the confirmation then, Close.
  9. Review the updated Contacts information and close the Payroll Account Management portal.

 

If you're using Assisted Payroll, please follow the detailed steps in this article: Update Payroll Admin information in QuickBooks.

 

However, if the steps above do not work for you, I highly suggest reaching out to our Payroll support team. They can pull up your account in a secure place and assist you further in updating your information. Here's how to connect with them:

  1. Click the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Enter your brief description of your concern. Example: I need to update Payroll information in QuickBooks Desktop. 
  4. Select Continue.
  5. Choose either Start messaging or Get a callback.

I followed these directions, but still do not see the option to edit the missing information QB has notified me about via email. Is there a way to see what exactly is missing? And if so, how do I insert the correct information? It does not give me an option to add in a SSN even though it is missing.

I can provide you some insights on how you can update your payroll information.

 

You'll want to ensure you've downloaded the latest QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) release and payroll tax table. This way, we can guarantee your software is up to date with the newest features and patches.

 

Once done, you can now update your payroll information. If the issue persists, I recommend running the Verify Rebuild utility tool. This scans your company file for errors and resolves them right away. Let me guide you how. 

 

To Verify:

 

  1. Go to the Window menu.
  2. Select Close All.
  3. Then, go to the File menu.
  4. Select Utilities.
  5. Click Verify Data.

 

To Rebuild:

 

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Then click Rebuild Data.

I have followed all the prompts and have the information entered, but I can not get the system to accept my PIN.

Thank you for posting today. I'll help you with your PIN.

 

Please don't try and try so you won't get blocked. Instead, you can reset your PIN. Please follow the detailed steps in this article: Change PIN for processing direct deposit payroll. Follow Method 2.

I have the same issue as well. "NOT a valid PIN" is what it says every time I get to the last step. I am certainly using the correct PIN as I have sent multiple payrolls in the weeks I have been attempting to go through the MANDATORY payroll information update process. Clearly an internal issue that has STILL not been corrected. Seems by the responses above that there is a serious lack of knowledge about the software. I have yet to find a solution. Has anyone found a solution on this glitch aside from sitting on hold for hours? I'm not at that point yet.

I had the same issue and figured it out. My payroll pin# contained a special character, ? $ ! @ etc...  So, I had to change my payroll pin# to only letters and numbers.

I'm in my Quickbooks now & I've added the required info to update my payroll account info by 731/21 but when I try to enter my 4 digit PIN Quickbooks won't accept it.

 

what do I do?

Does your payroll PIN contain any special characters like !,&, or $ for example? If it does, try changing it to only letters and numbers, as the system doesn't recognize anything else.

It will not accept my Pin either and I have no special characters in my pin.

It is a 6 character PIN number I have been using since 2007 and I do not wish to change it,

so what can I do and also do you know if they are trying to resolve this issue?

Since the PIN isn't the problem, I recommend reaching out to a member of the Payroll Support Team. Agents have specialized tools, such as the ability to share your screen, and take a more in depth look. They'll also be able to get your company added to any open tickets related to this issue. Here's how to get in touch with the team:

 

1. With QuickBooks open, press the F1 key on your keyboard.

2. Select Contact Us.

3. Enter Support in the field and click Continue.

4. From here you can being a live chat session with an agent.
