Hello, I receive this pop up message when attempting to create a 2019 W-2 file through Excel. Other than the mentioned steps from the pop-up are there any other steps I am able to take to get these reports run?

Hello, @ahcsts.

 

I'm happy to assist you with getting the W-2 report to run in QuickBooks. The message your getting is correct. You'll need to run the payroll tax table update. If this doesn't work, you can run a QuickBooks update as well. I have provided the steps below for the tax updates and QuickBooks updates.

 

Let's get started running the update for the latest tax table:

 

  1. Locate the Employees menu.
  2. Choose Get Payroll Updates from the drop-down window.
  3. Select Download entire payroll update.
  4. Hit Update.

Note: You can turn on the updates as well.

 

 

If the same error is happening, update QuickBooks Desktop.

 

  1. Hit the Help menu and then select Update QuickBooks.
  2. Select the  Update Now tab.
  3. Pick Get Updates to start the download.
  4. When the update finished, restart QuickBooks.
  5. When QuickBooks opens back up, you'll see the prompt, accept the option to install the new release. Click yes.

Note: Automatic updates are available for QuickBooks Desktop also.

 

 

The troubleshooting steps provided above will take care of the error if it's on QuickBooks end. However, if the same error is still happening, you will need to wait for TX to provide the updates (can take up till Feb. 19th) so you can run the W-2 report.
