Hi there, @melissa42

Thanks for reaching out. I hope you're enjoying this day so far.

To clarify, which payroll service are you using? For example, Intuit Online Payroll Enhanced.  If you're using Enhanced payroll and you e-filed, then you're not able to make corrections to the submitted 1099.  However, you can make corrections to a printed copy and send it by mail to the IRS.

More more information about correcting 1099s, check out: Can I make corrections to my 1099 after I e-file?

Please let me know if you find you need more assistance. I'll be here to help guide you every step of the way. Take care!

Thank you for joining the thread, @ijpcats.

As long as you have the 2020 Pre-Printed 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC kits, you don't have to pay to print your corrected 1099. However, if you don't have it yet, you can buy it on our Intuitmarket website and choose the correct 1099 form you should get.

Once you have the pre-printed form, you can follow the steps below to correct and print your 1099:

  1. Click Expenses from the left menu, then select Vendors.
  2. Select Prepare 1099s and Continue your 1099s.
  3. Follow the steps and make the necessary corrections.
  4. Once done, choose Print and mail, then follow the steps to print your forms.

I'm adding this article for more guidance on making corrections to 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms after you e-filed them: How to correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.

I only have two to file so I pay as I go. I have followed the steps by voiding and re-submitting but each time they get rejected.

I know some fixes to resolve this rejection so you can resubmit your 1099s successfully in QuickBooks, @julied9.

There are two possible reasons why your 1099s got rejected. It might be your company's legal name, Employer Identification Number (EIN), or Social Security number (SSN) that doesn't match IRS records, or one or more of your contractors has an incorrect address.

Have you received any specific error messages or prompts? This helps narrow down the issue, and we can check if there are reports related to this.

For now, you can follow the steps below to rectify your situation:

  1. See what 1099 forms were rejected. Go to the Taxes menu and then the 1099 filings tab. Look for the alert ‌on the page. It'll indicate why the IRS rejected your 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC filings.
  2. Select the Void forms option.
  3. Correct the information that caused the rejection.
  4. E-file your forms again.
