We want to change payroll payment dates from the 16th and the 1st of the next month to the 15th and last day of the month. How do we do this?

Since the 8/16 to 8/31 payment was made on 9/1, payroll won't allow a third payment in a month. There must be a work-around. Help, please!

I've got your back to help you change payroll payment dates, @gswank1465.

In QuickBooks Online, you have the option to edit a pay period. You can follow these steps below on how to update the schedule in your account, depending on the payroll service that you're using.

If you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll Full Service, Core, Premium, or Elite:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and select the Employees tab.
  2. Choose the employee's name.
  3. Click Edit employee.
  4. Select the drop-down list for How often do you pay [employee]?. Then, choose the pay schedule for the employee moving forward. Or, to create a new pay schedule, click Add new and fill out the appropriate fields.
  5. Once done, choose OK, then select Done.

If you have QuickBooks Online Payroll Enhanced:

  1. Select the Gear icon and choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Proceed to the Payroll and Services section, then click Pay Schedules.

  3. Choose Edit next to the pay schedule.
  4. Update the pay schedule's info and click OK.

Just in case you missed processing payroll on the scheduled date, you may need to create a set of paychecks outside of a regular payroll run. For your reference, you can review this resource: Create unscheduled checks in Online Payroll.

That should get you back on track. Please let me know how that works for you or if you have other questions about managing pay schedules in QuickBooks. I'll be here and ready to help anytime. I'm cheering you on continued prosperity.
