Where can I look to see the information that will be on W-2's for 2020?

Good afternoon, @tommy-jarrell

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I'd be glad to provide some insights on when 2020 W-2 information will be available.

Running Payroll Summary report shows you your employee's total wages, deductions, contributions, and taxes as well. This will give you a view of the information that will be included on the W-2 at the end of the year. Ensure that you set a date range for this year to see the correct information.

Here's how to run a Payroll Summary report:

  1. Select the Reports tab in the left menu.
  2. In the Find report by name search box, enter Payroll Summary
  3. In the left corner, click on the Date Range drop-down arrow and filter the date.
  4. Click on Run report

As of now, in QuickBooks Online, the information for 2020 will be available on your W-2s in January 1st, 2021. For more information about W-2s in QuickBooks Online, you can refer to this detailed article: W-2 General form and filling information

Also, you can check out this article for commonly asked questions about W-2s in QuickBooks Online: Commonly used articles to get started with Payroll.

Feel free to comment below if you have any more questions or concerns. Have a good one!

Where can I look to see the information that will be on W-2's for 2020?

Hi, I have sold my business as of May 1st but still paying out payroll charges for Quickbooks. I would like to cancel this service and get all my year end forms done now. How do I go about doing that?  When I try to chat online, I get a case # and calling me soon, but no one calls or comes on to chat.

As much as we would like your continued patronage, we respect your decision to defer your payroll with us, @Stephaniek,

Terminating an account can be done directly in your QuickBooks Online company file. Follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account, then tap the Gear icon at the top right portion of your Dashboard.
  2. Go to Account and Settings, and select Billing & Subscription.
  3. Locate the payroll subscription and then press Cancel or Cancel Trial.
  4. Hit Continue to Cancel twice.
  5. Lastly, answer the short survey and select Continue to Cancel.

However, if this involves refund concerns, I recommend contacting our Support first before following the cancellation steps. They are the ones who can check your account and can discuss your billing details and agreements. Here's how to contact them:

  1. Go to the Help menu then select Contact us.
  2. Enter the keyword Payroll and Billing in the What can we help you with? box.
  3. On the next screen, scroll down to the Choose a way to connect with us section.
  4. Choose Start messaging to initiate a discussion with a live agent or Get a call for callbacks.

You can start filing the forms available in QuickBooks. You may check the following Community guide to know which forms you can file at the moment:

For annual forms that are not yet released, you can file them later by reactivating your account. Use the steps in this article for more information: Reactivate account for year-end form filing

After you cancel your subscription with us, you'll have access to the payroll data for six months after the end of the tax year in which that data was collected. Before cancelling, make sure that you have done the following:

  • Printed necessary financial and payroll forms and reports you might need in the future.
  • Paid any outstanding tax deposits and filed tax forms.
  • Make your own arrangements to retain the data after that time.

Check out this resource guide for other things you need to do before and after cancelling an account: Cancel and reactivate your Online Payroll account.

I'm always here if you need further assistance with this cancellation. I'll be right here to help. Wishing you continued success and have a wonderful day!
