Hi there, @Maureen6.

I’ve got you covered with eliminating sick accrues on the employee’s paystub.

Follow the steps below to Edit sick and vacation time:

  1. Select Edit > Preferences
  2. On the left pane, locate Payroll & Employees then go to the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Pick Sick and Vacation
  4. Fill in the defaults you want to set up, make sure to check the Do not accrue boxes at the bottom if you do not want time accrued when paying sick/vacation/overtime.

You may also add or change sick and vacation accruals on an employee profile and here’s how:

  1. Go to Employees > Employee Center
  2. Double-click the employee name.
  3. Push Payroll Info, then hit Sick/Vacation
  4. In the Hours available as of mm/dd/yyyy field, enter the number of paid sick hours that are currently available for the employee to use.
  5. Select the Accrual period drop-down menu and choose one of the accrual periods for sick time. There are 3 different ways to accrue sick and vacation in QuickBooks Desktop.
  6. In the Hours Accrued field, enter the number of hours that will be accrued.
  7. If you want sick hours to reset to zero when a new accrual year begins, push Reset hours each new year? Enter the start date of the year the accrual year.
  8. If the employee accrues sick time on a calendar year, enter January 1.
  9. If the employee accrues sick time on a different schedule, for example, an anniversary year, enter the day that year begins.
  10. Enter the date that sick time should begin accruing.
  11. To specify accrual information for vacation hours, repeat steps 4 through 10 for the Vacation section of the window.
  12. Select OK to record your changes.

I am in QB 2019, and I am getting a YTD amount for Sick Time on paystubs that is NOT CORRECT.  It looks like the amount from last year.  I do have the Reset hours each new year marked.  Is there a way to get rid of the false information?

Thank you for joining this thread, @BN12.

Let's make sure that the month chosen under Year begins on field is January. Because the YTD will be based on what month is selected. If it is January, currently there is an on-going investigation about the incorrect paid time off appearing on paystubs.

I'd recommend contacting our Technical support team to add you to the list of affected users. Your account will be linked to INV-30055 and you'll receive a notification once the resolution is available.

Here's how to contact support:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop and go to Help.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. From the search bar type INV-30055 then, click Contact us.
  4. Choose either Call me back or Start messaging.

I’ve also added this article in case you need a guide to set up and track time off, vacation, sick pay, and vacation pay for your employees: Setup and pay vacation and sick time

Fill me in if you have additional questions about your YTD sick/vacation accruals. I'll be around to help you. Stay safe and take care always.
