Receiving the message "The IRS didn't accept your enrollment in electronic services. Your company legal name didn't match the Federal EIN." Has this been updated?

This message continues to show up in our Payroll To Do List, even though we have updated numerous times following the "Let's go" prompt. After we enter all of the information, we click done, but the "verify" button never highlights for us to click on that. How can we get this information updated so that we can pay our payroll, federal and state taxes directly through quickbooks?

I have another step you can do to ensure you're able to enroll for the electronic services. 

 

Have you checked with the IRS to see the exact registered legal company name? A mismatched legal company name is likely the reason for the rejection (and why you're unable to click the Verify button). 

 

Contact the IRS and ask them about the registered legal company name associated with your federal EIN. You can get their contact information here

 

After getting the exact name, enter the information on the Payroll To Do List. You can also update it in your Account and settings. 

 

  1. Click the Gear icon, then choose Account and Settings
  2. Go to the Company tab.
  3. Click the Company name section.
  4. Uncheck Same as company name, then enter the exact legal company name. 
  5. Click Save, then done

However if everything is entered correctly on the prompt, you'll want to contact our support agents. They can pull up the company information and EIN and check the reason why you can't proceed with the application. Here's how:

 

  1. Click the Help menu.
  2. In the QB Assistant window, click the Talk to a human option.
  3. When asked by the bot, enter something like "I cannot proceed with the electronic services enrollment" or similar. 
  4. Choose I still need a human.
  5. Click the Contact us link.
