Recording a CT unemployment payment

I spoke to QB on 1/7/19 because it wouldn't let me send a 2nd payment to Connecticut Unemployment for Q4 2018 (My 1st payment was not enough $).  I have since went on to the CT DOL website and paid the necessary amount online.  However, I was supposed to get an email from QB explaining how to record this payment in QB (it does not allow me to do it myself).  I'm getting concerned, because QB does not let me pay my Federal Unemployment until the State is paid.  Please advise asap.

Recording a CT unemployment payment

Hi there, Donna R.


You'll have to record it as a historical payment.


Let me walk you through:

  1. Click Taxes, then choose Payroll Tax.
  2. Under Taxes, choose Enter prior tax history.
  3. Click Add Payment.
  4. Fill in the necessary fields.
  5. Click OK.

You can refer to the screenshot below.




After recording the payment, you can now pay the Federal Unemployment tax.
