Reissuing a lost W2

An employee says he never received his 2018 W2.  I am trying to reissue it. I am using QB Desktop 2019 and Enhanced payroll. The directions on prior posts seem straight forward but after steps ...

Employees > PayrollCenter > File Forms, I have no View/Print forms & W-2s.  What am I doing wrong?  Federal Forms W-2/W-3 show up in my Filing History under E-Filing

You have to go through the interview process again and select only the employee to review and print. Print for your records is a small button lower right

Re: Reissuing a lost W2

Thank you, that works.  I  had read the the IRS requires "REISSUED STATEMENT" to be printed on duplicate W2's and that does not appear on the one.  I am hoping that because I only printed the replacement and didn't actually file a second time, that this will be fine.

Yes, that would be fine, Merit.

As what our Allstar john-pero mentioned, you'll have to reprint the form again and mail it to the IRS.

I can see that the step "View/Print forms & W-2s" is only available in the Assisted version.

This I doubt. Once an original W2 has been submitted to the IRS even changes in a W2C (corrected form) do NOT call for sending a copy of the replacement form to the IRS. There is a correction submission site run by irs.gov where all you submit is the changes, electronically even if you mailed in original paper forms.

As far as satisfying any requirement of including the label "replacement" , that is what pens are for.
