Remote out of state employee?

My business is in California.  I just hired a part-time employee who is working remotely from her home in New York.  Quickbooks is asking me to put in NY tax witholding information and I have no idea what to enter.

To enter your employee's New York (NY) withholding, I recommend contacting the NY state agency. From there, they'll be able to assist and provide you the correct tax rate.

 

Also, I'd suggest getting in touch with your accountant or a tax expert for guidance in recording this. This way, we can guarantee the accuracy of your books.

Remote out of state employee?

Yes, State Income Tax must be deducted from paycheck and paid to state where employee lives, so you must get tax ID to put in payroll for that to happen.
