set up a Workforce employee account

Hi, this is Diana. My work place wants to set up a Workforce employee account for my paycheck. When I tried to do it today, I got the messages below:

Looks like you don't have a Workforce employee accountThe email you entered belongs to an admin account. Only employees can access their Workforce accounts.

Would you please help me to figure out where the problem is from? Thank you!

set up a Workforce employee account

Hi there, diana3234.

Once your employer sends you an invitation to create a workforce account, you'll receive an email with a link to set up the Workforce. That said, it could be the error message you received is due to an unsuccessful set up of the Workforce account. That said, be sure to accept the invitation and set up your own workforce account to get past this error.

To start with, I'd suggest checking the email invitation and make sure to accept your Workforce invite from your employer. Your invite is valid for up to 30 days from when it was sent. Then, follow the steps below on how to create an account.

  1. Look for an email from Intuit Services (do_not_reply@intuit.com) with the subject "Finish setting up with [business name]." If you don’t see the invite, check your spam folder.
  2. Open the email and select Get access to paychecks to accept the invitation. Please note that you can only use this link once.
  3. Create an Intuit account with your email and a password.

For additional information, you can click this article: View your paychecks and W-2s online in QuickBooks Workforce. This also provides steps on how you can view, download, or print your paychecks.

However, if the issue continues to occur, I recommend accessing your Workforce account using a private window and log in from there. There are times when a browser's cache data becomes full of frequently-accessed page resources or damaged. This causes unusual behavior in the account like receiving an error. And, private browsing doesn't store local files or cache.

To open a private browser:

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P.

If it works in incognito, I recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. You can check this article to see the steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online. If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

Please refer to this article on how to add Intuit's service email addresses in your email's list of accepted senders: Receive important email messages from Intuit.

You can always count on me if you need anything else with managing your account. I'm always here to address them for you. You have a good one.
