Submitted W-2 for an employee with the wrong SSN and need to make a correction so employee can file taxes?

Hi bimmy,

You can update your employee's social security number to make the correction.

  1. Select Workers from the left menu > Employees.
  2. Select the employee's name.
  3. Select Edit employee.
  4. In section 1, select the edit (pencil) icon to update W-4 information.
  5. Delete the displayed digits.
  6. Retype the entire number.

Then, amend these forms using the correct SSN if you've filed the forms. Here's an article for more additional information: Correct An Employee's Social Security Number.

You'll also want to print W-2 forms for your employees: For future reference, please check this article: How to Print W-2s Forms.

Should you need any additional assistance in QuickBooks, you can post a reply. I'll be sure to get back to you.
