Join nowQB is not letting me file a 941 for Q2 2020 since no one was paid.
It allowed me to do this for Q1 but not for Q2.
It gives me a warning that no one was paid, but then does not proceed.
Mine is doing the same thing, have they given you any answers yet? Thanks
Our engineers are closely looking into the issue you're experiencing right now, lcrtexas and Cheryl1967.
We have an open an investigation about the error No employees have been paid in the given year that's why you're unable to file your Form 941. I'd suggest giving us a call so we can add your account to the notification list. This way, you'll receive updates as soon as a permanent fix is available.
Here's how to reach out to us:
For now, we can manually download Form 941 for Q2 on the IRS website and enter the needed information. Then, manually mail it to them.
You can always post your questions here if there's anything else that you need help with. I'm just around the corner to keep an eye on your replies. You take care always and have a great day!
Mine is doing the same thing. Hoping I will get notified when there is a fix.
Hello, @sleewarner.
To be notified and get an email notification on this current investigation (INV-48016), your account must be added to the affected user's record. I would be glad to include you on the list but I don't have the chance to do it here on the Community page for security reasons. That said, I encourage reaching out to our Support Team for further assistance.
For the support's contact information, you can follow the steps provided above or check out this link: Contact the QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team.
Also, our articles are available in this link in case you need additional references while working with QuickBooks in the future.
Please know that I'll be keeping an eye to help if you have any other questions. Just add a comment below. Keep safe!
Until QB fixes this issue with their software, create a fake paycheck (ie. for .01), then see if the report generates, save the 941, delete the fake paycheck, create your report again and select the NEW option and you should be good to go!
Please let us know when this is fixed! QBO seems fine, it's just QBD payroll with issues.
No answer yet and there was a new update today and that did not deal with this issue either.
Still no fix and i just downloaded the update that just came out!!
I am using QBD and received this same warning "have not paid employees within a given year". I was just advised by QB Team to create a "dumby check" or "input a liability adjustment". I do not feel comfortable doing this because it might create an issue later.
Hopefully this error will be fixed as soon as possible. QB Payroll subscription is expensive for our small business and it's creating more work for me!
Thanks Darcy! Worked for me perfectly. Very glad we have you over Intuit's QBD Tech team that apparently needs a month to fix what should be a simple issue.
