System Error Report in Payroll Tax Setup

In Quickbooks Online: Go to the Gear, Payroll Setup, then Federal or State Tax setup. All I get is an error and lines of code. The error i:

 

System Error Report

Stack Trace

javax.servlet.servletexception: File [/sp/account/showError.jsp] not found

...followed by lines and lines of code.

 

I have called support several times, each time they send my case to the "back end" team, but I never hear back. I have cleared out the browser cache, tried different browsers, incognito mode, and I also tried on another computer. My bookkeeper has her own login and she doesn't get this error.

 

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Thanks for sharing the steps you’ve performed to resolve the error and letting us know the result. I'm here to help get you back on track setting up your payroll.


To start, open your company and enter the following link in the taskbar: http://qbo.intuit.com/app/payroll-settings-ui/payrollSettings. This will take you directly to the Payroll Set up page.


If you continue to get the same result, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. One of our specialists will collect personal data to add your company to the list of affected users. You’ll be notified via email once there’s progress in the investigation.

 

Here's how to reach them:

 

  1. Click the Help icon at the top to open the QB Assistant window.
  2. In the Assistant tab, enter the issue/topic in the field box.
  3. Press the Get help from a human link and follow the on-screen steps to complete the process.
  4. Then, select Chat or Callback and provide this number: INV-53126.

System Error Report in Payroll Tax Setup

I opened my company and entered the link http://qbo.intuit.com/app/payroll-settings-ui/payrollSettings but it gave me an error.

 

I went back into payroll settings on the gear menu and I am having the same problem.

 

Clicking on Help at the top does not give me a QB Assistant, nor does typing QB Assistant into the Help search bar. There is only a Contact Us button which so far has not been of any help. I will try again...

 

Any other ideas I can try?

We recently received a report about users like you getting the same error 404 Page Not Found when accessing the payroll setting. Our product team is working diligently, and an open investigation is taking place to resolve the problem.

 

At this time, we don’t have a workaround for you to try. For now, I'd highly suggest contacting our Support Team and provide this investigation number INV-51603 so they can add your company details to the list of affected users. By doing this, we will be able to send you an email notification once an update is available. I'll also update this post as soon as I get a message from them that this has been fixed. System Error Report in Payroll Tax Setup

I spoke to tech support by phone. They let me know that I am on the list of 93 people who have this problem. Quickbooks is still working on the issue. If you have this problem give the tech support person the number INV-53126 (thank you @Rasa-LilaM) so they can add you to the list of people who have the error.

 

Since it could be a long time for a fix, there was a work around suggested.

1. Create a different log in to access the Fed & State Tax setup since the problem seems to be limited to my log in only.

2. Transfer the Primary User status to my new login. My new login would receive an email which I would need to access and accept as the the primary user. Then I call tech support to move all my ProAdvisor Certifications to the new log in . Then I would go fill in my profile on ProAdvisor. The only downside could be that if I had any "reviews" on my ProAdvisor account they would be lost.

 

I'll probably stop at step one, access the setup with the spare login when needed, and wait for a fix.
