LIMITED TIME 90% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowAs title suggests, any payment made outside of qbo with "record tax payments" is not showing in the check register. I am on automatic payments, but the amount showing owed is not correct, so I made a manual payment for two different taxes owed, a 941 payment and a state income tax payment.
I've called 3 times and each time they said their engineers are working on it, and then a week later I received an email so say it was operating as intended.
I've deleted the payment and made a new one multiple times with the same result.

I forgot to add that I've searched the forums incessantly and found several people with the same problem. All were marked as solved yet none had solutions that worked.
Lindsey from Intuit did reach out to me and I finally have the solution, albeit not one that makes much sense. She has been extremely helpful.
If you make a payment without using the "pay" button on the tax screen, then the payment will not be recorded in your check register, nor will it reflect your tax liabilities.
I can only assume Intuit did it this way to discourage us from making payments without their automated system.
To get the payment to record in your check register, you need to create a separate expense. Use the + button top left on main screen, and then select expense under vendors. She recommended creating a new expense account called "payroll tax correction" or something to that effect, and using that so it will not affect your tax liability accounts, unless you need it to obviously.
At least this will balance the check book literally, and make it so we can reconcile our bank statement. I'm only a month in with qbo, so I'll be watching subsequent payrolls how this works.
I'm trying to post the solution, but the forums keep giving me authentication and "maximum flood limit reached" errors.
I appreciate you revisiting this thread to share how your Tax payment concern was taken care of, Drtbar.
As for the error you encountered while posting in the forum, let's perform some basic troubleshooting steps to ensure that your post went through.
