I have a new employee and am unable to figure out how to do a test deposit to the bank account they gave me. I want to do that before I run a payroll. Is this possible?
Let me provide some information about testing a deposit to the bank account of your new employee, Jenny.
QuickBooks handles payroll processing and direct deposit for employees but does not support conducting test debits directly for employees.
I'd advise you to use your financial institution's online banking service to perform test transactions. You can do this by making a small deposit into the employee's account to validate the banking details.
After that, you can have your employee return or send back the amount to your bank account, depending on your agreement.
Additionally, you can refer to this article to learn how to change your company's bank account for payroll: Change your payroll bank account.

RE: To verify your employee's bank account, you can transfer a small amount using your bank's online services. This practical test ensures the account details are functional without significant financial impact.
No, it's not. You clearly don't understand the US banking system.
What you're asking for is usually called a 'prenote'. QuickBooks doesn't do that.
I'd make it a point be very careful to enter the banking numbers provided from the employees check or deposit slip correctly.
