The liability period for federal taxes (941) is wrong in Quickbooks online. How do I adjust them?

Our pay period starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday, a full 7 days. A few weeks ago the liability period inexplicably changed to 4 days. I didn't change it and cannot figure out how to correct it. For example, the pay period for Sun, May 24 - Sat, May 30 is showing a 941 tax liability period of Sat, May 30 - Tue, Jun 2. How do I adjust these dates in QuickBooks Online?

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Community page, @TBGH, and allow me to share some information about how the period works in QuickBooks.

If you belong to semiweekly depositors, you can only pay taxes three banking days after the period ends which you accrued liability. The IRS divides the week into two periods:

  • Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday

For more information about this topic, open this article and scroll down to the Federal tax deposit schedules section. Also, I recommend reaching out to IRS if you need additional information about the deposit schedules for your federal taxes.
