Update Payroll Error Code 16026

I keep getting this message when I try updating updating the payroll version. Anybody know now to fix this?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I'm here to help ensure to isolate the error you're getting so you can update your payroll version successfully. 


If your computer can connect to the internet outside of QuickBooks Desktop but you're getting an error when updating payroll, let's process troubleshooting steps which is to configure Internet Explorer on your computer.

  • Before troubleshooting, you may want to try the task on another computer to see if it is successful and verify your network (if any) is compatible with QuickBooks.
  • Make sure you update to the latest version of Internet Explorer, IE 11, if you are using Internet Explorer 10 or or versions older.

If the same the error persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. They have additional tools to pull up your account and do a remote session to investigate this further. 


Here's how to contact our technical support:

  1. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu.
  2. You can also press F1 on your keyboard to bring up the same Help Panel
  3. In order to route you to the correct support expert, we need to know what type of question you have.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. We’ll provide you a few options. You choose which one is best for you.
