Is there any way to list Payroll, WH, etc. in QB for a period of time by column instead of by description in rows? Including a running total on both side and bottom? (See below for example.) I've used QB for a long time but never had a need of it until now, though it would make sense to have a report formatted like that. Is there one and am I just missing it?
I.e.
Date Name Gross Fed WH State WH SS & Med Net Total
1/1/20 John D 1000 100 50 76.50 773.50
2/1/20 John D 1000 100 50 76.50 773.50 1547.00
3/1/20 John D 1000 100 50 76.50 773.60 2320.50
--------- ------ ----- ----- ------- -------- ---------
Total 3000 300 150 229.50 2320.50 2320.50

The format you’ve shown to us displays a clear and organized presentation of your payroll data, @nikipatton.
As of the moment, the customization settings available in the reporting section only breakdown the descriptions in a row form. I can see how this type of format would be beneficial for you and the rest of the users.

Nice to have you in the Community space, @nikipatton.
I also appreciate you for sharing your sample format. Allow me to share some insights about reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
QBDT offers a variety of reports that you can choose from and personalize. While there isn’t a specific report that has the information you need, you’ll want to run the Payroll Summary reports as your reference instead.
This report shows the accumulated totals of payroll items such as taxes and withheld of your employee’s recent paychecks. Though the option to change the format of the report is not available, you can export it to Excel and customize it from there based on your preference. Let me show you how to do it in your QBDT software:
I’m adding this article you can use for additional reference: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.
You might also want to check this article that lets you save the current settings of our customized report: Create, access and modify memorized reports.
In case you have other concerns about managing your reports in QBDT, you’re always welcome to tag me in. I’d be more than happy to assist you. Keep safe and stay well.
JasroV -- as I said, I've been using QB Pro for quite a while -- over 2 decades -- so I am familiar with reports of all kinds, Payroll being a common one. And I'm familiar with Excel exports. I posted because I am specifically looking for the format shown above to give a lender the total of gross pay, withholding and net for a particular employee both for an individual payment and multiple payments over a period of time -in relationship to the gross - showing the running total and bottom line -- and I can't find that as a format which would have to be as above. They want QB original for documentation not a a created excel. So I will have to create, print, pdf and upload 12 reports unless I can find a way to do it one page. So your reply does not answer my question. Can you confirm that this format does or does not exist? If not, I would like to suggest it as it that is a common payroll record format.
