w-2

I recently found out that my employer is not taking s.s. and medicaid deductions and no one is a 1099 employee. And the same employees without these deductions did not receive a w-2. Is this correct?

w-2

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @jl2020.

It's my pleasure to elaborate with you on the process of W-2 in QuickBooks Online.

Yes, this is correct, you should not receive any W-2 forms if you're employer process a check and a bill in QuickBooks.

However, if they process payroll inside QuickBooks, you can get W-2 forms even if you are exempted from Social Security and Medicare.

If this is not the case, I suggest to let your employer contact our payroll team to process a correction so that you can receive a W-2 form. They have tools to access their account in a protected place.

Here's how to contact:

  1. Click the Help button, then choose Contact Us.
  2. Enter the concern in the description field, then hit Let's Talk
  3. Choose either Start messaging or Get a callback
  4. Complete the needed information, then tap Confirm my call or Send a message
