W2's won't Align....FORCED SUBSCRIPTION

Has anyone else had issues with the W2's aligning?  Yes, I've used the align option, Yes I've done all of the updates. We have Quickbooks Premier Contractors Edition 2019.  I've tried the pre-printed forms...NOPE won't align no matter what I do.  They align on top and won't on the bottom. Sooooo, I bought the perforated paper to print.  Guess what....won't align. I've spent HOURS working on this.  I've used Quickbooks for over 20 YEARS!!  I know what I am doing.  I finally after spending over $100 for forms and paper, I called Quickbooks support.  They had me redo all the updates I've already done.  They even had me reset all of the updates and do them over...GUESS WHAT....THEY STILL WOULD NOT ALIGN.  Then they tried to get me to download A DIFFERENT VERSION of 2019 Quickbooks.  That's when I stopped!  I refused to do any additional downloads until he could confirm I was updating MY CONTRACTORS EDITION!  He couldn't.  He had me call a sales line and tell them I needed to update my 2019 version.  GUESS WHAT...they can't.  You now have to purchase an annual Subscription which cost well over $500.00 in addition to the over $600.00 a year for the payroll subscription. SO.....INTUIT IS FORCING ME TO UPGRADE OR I CAN'T PRINT MY W2'S!  THIS SOUNDS LIKE A CLASS ACTION SUIT TO ME!  Please let me know if you are having the same problem. I know there are other class action suits against Intuit.  I think we need to start another one!!

W2's won't Align....FORCED SUBSCRIPTION

Hi, GandH1. Allow me to help and get this sorted out.

An outdated Adobe version can lead to a problem when previewing an invoice in QuickBooks Online. You may need to update the Adobe Reader. Here's how:

  1. Launch Adobe Reader or Acrobat.
  2. Choose Help, and then Check for Updates.
  3. Follow the steps in the Update window to download and install the latest updates.

However, if the same thing happens, let's proceed with repairing your Adobe Reader: How to update, repair, or re-install Adobe Reader/Acrobat.

  1. Close Acrobat/Reader and all open web browser windows.
  2. Select the Start button at the bottom left of your screen.
  3. Type Control Panel, then press Enter.
  4. Select Programs and Features.
  5. Select Acrobat or Adobe Reader, then click Uninstall/Change or Modify.
  6. In the Setup dialog box, select Next.
  7. Select Repair, then Next. Select Install.
  8. When the process is complete, select Finish.
  9. Restart your computer and log back into QuickBooks Online, then do a print test.

Rose-A, Thanks for a suggestion, I did what you suggested but unfortunately, it did not correct the problem.  The bottom portion will not line up, no matter what I do.

Thanks for getting back to us, @GandH1.

I have more steps we can try to get your W-2 aligned. You'll want to download and run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. This tool help fix common printing errors, including form alignment.

Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Then, save the file on your Desktop.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. When the installation finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, pick Program Problems.
  6. Click QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. It will take about a minute to run.

Once finished, try printing the form again. See this article for more information about the tools: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm also adding this link to help you manage payroll-related tasks. It has our general payroll topics with articles. Feel free to browse: View all help for QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Please let me know how it goes after trying the steps as I wanted to ensure this is resolved for you. Take care and have a good one.

W2's won't Align....FORCED SUBSCRIPTION

Sheila GraceA, Thank you, I did what you suggested. I've tried on the perforated paper I purchased and on the pre-printed forms.  On the pre-printed forms it will align on the top, but not on the bottom.  On the perforated paper the bottom part cuts off below the Employee's SSN. I've tried different printers as I read that could be the problem. I've spent over 25 hours working on something that should have taken me max 1 hour to do. We are definitely going to have to re-think our 2022 payroll service.  It's sad that this company paid for software, paid for payroll service and I cannot print the W2's for them.  I've been a huge proponent of Quickbooks for years.  I even had this company switch to Quickbooks from the construction job costing software that they had.  I work for other companies on 2020 Quickbooks and had no problem getting theirs to print out properly.  It is obviously a glitch in the 2019 software.   We like the 2019 Contractors Edition and how it works. We just didn't want to be forced to change software or payroll services.
