WA PFML liability amount does not match WA PFML amount

Hello,

I could use some help with QB desktop and WA PFML.

The employer pays 3 employee portions every month totaling $50.16, so every quarter we have $150.48 in Liability to pay the WAPFML.

On the WA PFML website, when I upload the income data for our 3 employees, the amount due and paid is $150.47.  Obviously a small amount, but it’s causing me headaches.

I have a penny left over on the employee liability page and don’t know how to clear it. I attached a screenshot.

I’m puzzled about the best way to eliminate it.

Thanks and any help would be appreciated.

Brian

Hello, Brian.

I'm here to make sure you can remove the penny amount on the liability page.

You'll need to run a Payroll Summary report to check the paycheck date, specific item, and the employees' name. Let me walk you through how:

  1. Go to Reports, then Employees and Payroll.
  2. Select Payroll Summary.
  3. Adjust the date range appropriately.

Once done, create the liability adjustment to eliminate the amount.

Here's how:

  1. From the Employees menu, select Payroll Taxes and Liabilities.
  2. Select Adjust Payroll Liabilities.
  3. The Date and the Effective Date should be the same date as the last paycheck of the affected quarter or the last day of the fourth quarter.
  4. Select Employee Adjustment.
  5. Select the payroll item and enter a negative amount (-0.01) to decrease the amount of the liability.
  6. Click Accounts Affected.
  7. Select either Do not affect accounts or Affect liability and expense accounts.
  8. Continue to click OK to close the window.

Thank you so much GlinetteC.  That solved the issue.

It looks like I'll have to do that every quarter, correct?

Thank you for following up, brm980721.

Let me share an idea about adjustment for payroll liabilities in QuickBooks Desktop.

Yes, you can do this adjustment again for the next quarter. But making payroll liability adjustments can be tricky. I'd suggest consulting an accountant for the best way to settle any discrepancies.
