We have seperate expense accounts for 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC but the expense account linked to 1099-NEC is not getting picked up for generating 1099?

Can it be because the expense account has sub-accounts?

And yes we have followed the steps from here:

All accounts affected should be selected when generating the form, @odysseas.

Thanks for reaching out to us. Let me share some information so you can continue to prepare the 1099 form in QuickBooks Online.

When mapping the 1099 NEC, you’ll want to make sure all accounts are included. That means you’ll need to select the subaccounts you created for 1099. So the transaction that was allocated is included, and the reflected amounts are correct.

I’ve added resources here to help you further when preparing and filing your Federal 1099s with QuickBooks Online.

This worked but you have made it very confusing to select sub-accounts as there is absolutely no indication on the pull down which accounts are parents and which are sub-accounts - the old interface was much better.

This worked. Thanks but you need to fix the UI. On the pulldown there is no indication which are the parent accounts and which are the sub-accounts and that when you select a parent the sub-accounts are not selected.
