What is the difference between the "QB Payroll Annual" fee and the "On line Payroll Core" fee?

I was charged the annual fee ($420) and a core fee of $22/month.

What is the difference between the "QB Payroll Annual" fee and the "On line Payroll Core" fee?

It seems when I signed up for QB online payroll, once the desktop version I was happily using was no longer going to be supported and a newer desktop version wasn’t being produced, the online sales team did not discontinue my payroll package for the desktop account…so Intuit charged me both the monthly online payroll fee as well as the annual desktop payroll fee.  I was told it was my responsibility to cancel the desktop program.  The online payroll salesman failed to mention that.  It was my fault in that I assumed Intuit wouldn’t charge me twice for the same service. My bad.

And one more thing:  Why did Intuit think it was okay to charge me for a full year of payroll services for my Desktop version (of which I was very happy with but Intuit wasn't going to support anymore after 05/2022) when it was discontinuing the payroll service at the same time?  That just seems wrong...or is that just me?

Glad to see you here, cary.gottlieb.

I want to make sure you're able to get the information about your payroll charges.

There are several common charges for your monthly billing for payroll. Either for a monthly usage fee or an annual subscription. All our payroll services have a base price and a fee per active employee you processed payroll for. Here you will also see the plans available for QBO users and their features:

I've added this link so you can look up a charge: Understand Intuit charges on your credit card or bank statement.

If you need more details, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Team. They can pull up your account in a secure environment and check the charges for you.

Visit us here again if you have other questions about managing your subscription or QuickBooks account. It will be my pleasure. Stay safe and have a great day ahead!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, cary.gottlieb.

Paying for something that you're not using isn't practical. That's why we make sure customers are aware of the renewal process of QuickBooks. I'd like to inform you that when you subscribe to any of the QuickBooks products, aside from being told that there will be an automatic renewal of the service, a notification will be sent to you about the Subscription Renewal Notice. From there you can manually cancel the unused product or call QuickBooks Team for assistance to prevent your card from being charged.

With regards to the discontinuation process, every QuickBooks Desktop version has a 3-year term. This means you can still use QuickBooks Desktop for basic accounting and recording, however, any online services like Payroll services, Merchant services are no longer supported. Thus, if you wish to continue those mentioned, you are encouraged to renew your subscription.

You may want to read through this article to learn more about the discontinuation policy and upgrade information: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation (Disco) policy and upgrade information.

You know where to go if you have follow-up questions or other concerns about QuickBooks. Always here to help. Have a great day.
