What should I do if I have deleted employees from the online file and my desktop file still will not upload?

Welcome to the Community, @pammcgill.

I've got your back on converting your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) file to your QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When you encounter an error that you need to delete all employees already entered in QBO, this happens when your payroll is off in QBDT while it's on in QBO. Or if there’s no payroll info.

You'll want to turn on the payroll in QBDT to get this fixed. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Edit menu, then select Preferences.
  2. Select Payroll & Employees.
  3. In the Company Preferences tab, choose Full Payroll or Online Payroll.
  4. Then, retry importing to QuickBooks Online.

I'm adding this article for more details: How to fix errors when converting from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

You might also want to check out this article to learn what data doesn't convert to QBO: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

Keep in touch if you need any more assistance with this, or there's something else I can do for you. I've got your back. Have a good day.

I'm here to ensure everything is up and running, @pammcgill.

Were you able to upload your QBDT file to QBO after fixing the "delete all employees" error? I can provide further assistance if you encounter any issues with this.

I'll be more than happy to assist you again. Have a great day and take care always.
