When I download a general ledger payroll file from ADP it goes into all accounts but when I run a P&L report why is is nothing displayed under payroll?

When I run a Balance Sheet report FICA and GROSS are displayed under payroll.  GL file comes from ADP and it imports fine into my check register, just does not display in the P&L

Unless you pay Tax Liabilities yourself, the accounts on the Balance Sheet should never have any values at all. ADP makes those payments for you, so you would not be carrying any liability.

ADP is probably using .iif format to communicate the data. You can look at the import data and see if they are hitting the accounts you expect.

Let me help you reflect the payroll file that you've downloaded from ADP to QuickBooks.

Once the payroll data is successfully imported into Quickbooks, the data will also be reflected in your reports specifically on the P&L report. You can run the Verify and Rebuild procedure to fix any possible data damages. This can also help you fix any strange QuickBooks behavior that you may encounter in the future. Please follow the steps I've provided below:

  1. Make sure to close all the existing windows in QuickBooks.
  2. To verify the data:
           a.) Go to the File menu at the very top.
           b.) Select Utilities on the drop down menu and select the Verify Data option.
  3. To rebuild the data:
          a.) Go to the File menu at the very top.
          b.) Select Utilities on the drop down menu and select the Rebuild Data option.

I verified and rebuilt and it did not help.  An additional note.  When I run a "previous year comparison" repot the previous year payroll data is displayed, but not the current year's.

If they are using a .iif file, that can be opened by Excel.
