Re: WHEN WILL MY EMPLOYEES RECEIVE THEIR W2S????? ITS JAN 31ST AND NOTHING. SOMEONE EARLIER SAID FEB 15TH.
To comply properly with the law they only have to be postmarked by midnight tonight
From the IRS: my bold
You must furnish Copies B, C, and 2 of Form W-2 to your employees by January 31, 2019. You'll meet the furnish requirement if the form is properly addressed and mailed on or before the due date. If an employee stops working for you before the end of the year, you may give your former employee Form W-2 anytime prior to January 31, 2019, but no later than January 31, 2019. If your employee asks for the Form W-2, you must give your employee Copies B, C, and 2 within 30 days of the request or within 30 days of the final wage payment, whichever is later.
If you paid Intuit to mail them then chances are they are aware of today's deadline and will in fact meet it. You can provide (or maybe did) online access for the employees or you can save a pdf and send it via text message from phone to phone ( I did to replace one not delivered after two weeks and employee saying their mailbox has been destroyed by snowplow twice already)
In this day and age of digital everything most people no longer have to submit an actual paper W2 with their tax forms. Turbo-Tax certainly does not ask for them, only the information on them. Now that does not preclude us from providing an actual physical form ... but in the future it might
